Q: Who are you?
A: I am Vanessa Nicole, Baltimore native and resident. Welcome to my wee corner of the interwebs.
Q: What do you do?
A: Other than existing, on weekdays, I work as an urban planner in the D.C. metro area. On weeknights and weekends, well… some things I need to keep to myself.
Q: Why the name ‘Wicked Urbanity’?
A: Its a convoluted story. One of these days, I will dedicated a mini-blog post about it.
Q: Why is your Twitter page schizophrenic?
A: Schizo is a strong word. I like to think of it as well-rounded. Who talks about one subject all the time?
Q: What made you become interested in urban planning?
A: I have always been interested in the subject of cities. When I say always, I mean it. Probably since I was 8 or 9. Yep, I was a nerd.
Q: You talk about architecture a lot. Why aren’t you an architect?
A: Because I can’t draw a straight line for sh*t. But I sure can criticize the bad and swoon over the good!
Q: Why do you have foreign travel links on your sidebar? Isn’t this a site about planning/public policy/architecture?
A: I like to travel internationally and plan to start doing more of it soon. Basically, its to help me remember which sites I like to visit.
Q: Are you really from Baltimore?
A: Yes. Why do people keep asking me this?
Q: What is so great about the Baltimore? I’ve seen the show ‘The Wire’ and it looks scary.
A: My fair city does have its problems when it comes to crime and other matters but it’s not all scary. The world of ‘The Wire’ is very far from the world I lived in during my childhood. Heck, its very far from where I live as an adult. One of the reasons for starting this blog was to show a different side of Baltimore, another perspective. Hopefully, I will be successful in doing so.
